VIA Meeting Study group Veterinary Immunology

The annual meeting 2026 of the Veterinary Immunology Study Group will take place from September 14–15, 2026, at the TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan in Freising, Germany. The meeting is organized as a satellite meeting preceding the Annual Conference of the German Society for Immunology (DGfI), which will be held at the Technical University of Munich.

The meeting provides a platform for scientific exchange with a strong focus on early-career researchers. The program will include oral presentations, poster sessions, and ample time for discussion and networking. In addition, the annual general assembly of the Veterinary Immunology Study Group will take place, including the election of the spokespersons.

Program 2026

Veterinary immunology continues to expand our understanding of host defense mechanisms across animal species. Accordingly, the planned session topics include:

  • Novel Tools & Techniques in Veterinary Immunology
  • Basic Immunology of Different Species
  • Immune Regulation, Memory and Vaccinology
  • Immune Responses to Infections & Microbiota
  • Clinical Veterinary Immunology
  • Wildlife Immunology
  • Immune Responses in Pre-clinical Disease Models in Companion and Livestock Species.

Continuing the long-standing tradition of the study group, young scientists are strongly encouraged to present their research and ideas. In addition to poster presentations, 10-minute short talks are planned to facilitate intensive scientific exchange.

The scientific program will be highlighted by a keynote lecture given by Prof. Jim Kaufman, Yale University, New Haven, USA.

The venue

The TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan, part of the Technical University of Munich, is located in the historic Weihenstephan campus in Freising, just north of Munich, Germany. As one of Europe’s leading centers for life science research and education, the campus provides a vibrant interdisciplinary environment that brings together expertise in animal science, veterinary research, biotechnology, and immunology.

The venue offers modern research and teaching facilities within a scenic campus setting surrounded by gardens, forests, and historic buildings. Its proximity to Munich International Airport and the city of Munich ensures convenient international access while maintaining a focused academic atmosphere.

The Veterinary Immunology Workshop of the German Society for Immunology (DGfI) will take place in this inspiring environment, providing an ideal setting for scientific exchange, networking, and discussion among researchers working in veterinary and comparative immunology.
