AK Vaccines DGfI study groups

Current events starkly emphasize the importance of vaccines for sustaining the public health and our society in general. We are, however, aware that numerous questions about immune mechanisms and implementation strategies remain open, and that the technological progress in this field critically depends on an open dialogue of numerous stakeholders from science, industry and beyond.

The study group Vaccines will focus on scientific and societal issues of vaccine development and deployment. The establishment of our study group will allow us to promote interdisciplinary research on vaccines and vaccinations and provide evidence based information on this topic to the public.

The new study group will thus provide a platform for scientific exchange and a point of convergence for researchers who directly study vaccines and vaccinations, but also for those who are interested in the topic. This includes both the basic science efforts to develop innovative vaccination concepts and translational applications to implement these technologies. It also includes research that aims to dissect the cellular and molecular mechanisms that are required for the induction of long-term immune protection against infectious pathogens or malignant disease.
