About us DGfI

DGfI, founded in 1967, has more than 2,300 members active in basic immunological research or clinical immunology. The scientific activities of the DGfI are organized in 13 working groups. The DGfI organizes annual congresses with approximately 1000 participants, at intervals also together with other European societies, in order to advance the networking of immunologists within Europe. There are also small bilateral meetings. A brief overview of our current structures and activities can be found in our brochure ‘Immunology in Germany‘.

Our Mission

The German Society for Immunology promotes the development of Immunology as a research area in bioscience and medicine.

Our Activities

  • We promote basic and clinical research in immunology.
  • We provide state-of-the art immunological education and training for (young) researchers and physicians
  • We organize congresses and symposia with an immunological focus
  • We foster (inter-)national networks, e.g. in interdisciplinary working groups and through our engagement in the international immunological community

We hold a General Meeting every year during the annual meeting. The board and advisory board of DGfI is supported by the office in Berlin. Our staff is available to answer any questions the DGfI members may have. DGfI itself is a member of the (inter)national immunological network in various umbrella organisations and is duly represented there by its members.
