The additional designation immunology (Zusatz-Weiterbildung [ZWB] Immunologie) was included for the first time in November 2018 in the new (model) further training regulations (MWBO) of the German Medical Association (BÄK). Legal validity for physicians will only arise through implementation in the individual federal states.
In the meantime, the ZWB Immunology has come into force in all federal states, with the exception of Berlin and Saarland. Examiners have been appointed in many federal states and the first examinations have taken place. The first recognised training centre is the Institute for Molecular and Clinical Immunology at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg/Faculty of Medicine.
