The German Immunology Award is the most prestigious scientific award of the German Society of Immunology (DGfI). It carries a prize money of 10,000 Euro.
The prize is awarded to an internationally renowned person who has contributed with outstanding achievements to the elucidation of basic immunological principles and/or to the translation of basic research into clinical application.
All DGfI members are entitled to make proposals. The written nomination must be submitted to the DGfI office. Self-nominations are not accepted. The award winners are selected by the DGfI Board and Advisory Board.
The awardee is selected by the DGfI Executive and Advisory board.

Avery-Landsteiner Award
The German Immunology Award succeeded the Avery-Landsteiner Prize, which DGfI awarded from 1973 to 2014 with the support of Behringwerke AG, Marburg and CSL Behring GmbH respectively.
