At the suggestion of the German Society for Hygiene and Microbiology, the German Society for Immunology and the Society for Virology the Robert-Koch-Stiftung annually awards three PostDoc prizes for outstanding research to junior scientists (one for each of the three societies).
The German Society for Immunology invites nominations for the Robert-Koch Postdoctoral Prize in the field of immunology. Direct application by the candidate is not possible. The prize is awarded for research which has substantially improved our understanding of infectious diseases. It is important that the results enhance the diagnosis or therapy of infectious diseases or point to new directions in combating infectious diseases (remark: this includes immunological insights). The age of nominees is usually limited to 35 years. The prize carries a prize money of 5,000 Euro.
The DGfI submits three shortlisted proposals; prize-giver is the Robert-Koch-Stiftung. The PostDoc prizes are awarded during the Robert-Koch Award Ceremony.
