DGfI, founded in 1967, has more than 2,400 members active in basic immunological research or clinical immunology. The scientific activities of the DGfI are organized in 13, soon 14, study groups. The DGfI organizes annual congresses with approximately 1000 participants, at intervals also together with other European societies, in order to advance the networking of immunologists within Europe. There are also small bilateral meetings.
Statement of the DGfI on the current vaccination strategy: The first vaccination can already offer protection against severe courses of the disease from day 14. A second dose must be administered but it might also be given later than currently prescribed.
Antibodies from animals remain indispensable in research and clinic. DGfI informs about the anti-scientific recommendation of the EU Reference Laboratory for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing (EURL ECVAM).
We offer education and training for all levels from beginners to postdocs in the three modules of our Academy of Immunology.
With this certificate, DGfI documents comprehensive expertise in basic and clinical immunology for for private persons and institutions.
The scientists of the DGfI are organized in 14 thematically focused working groups. In 2021, the working groups Vaccines and Allergy/Immunology will be established.
This forum offers young immunologists within DGfI the opportunity to advance topics of particular relevance to them.
