AK Signal Transduction Study groups

AKSigTrans_Logo_kleinThe AK Signal Transduction sees itself as a forum for all those interested in signalling cascades from receptor stimulation to gene regulation in the immune system. The constituent meeting took place at the annual conference in Vienna in 1995. Initiator and 1st speaker was Ottmar Janßen.

Since 1996, the AK has taken an active part in organising the annual conferences and training courses. Together with like-minded people from other German associations, the Signal Transduction Society was founded in 1998, which organises an annual interdisciplinary meeting with the motto “Signal Transduction – Receptors, Mediators and Genes”.

Registration is free.

Young Immunologists (YI) of the DGfI

Since 2016, the DGfI Young Immunologists (YI) network has represented the interests of young, research-based immunologists. The aim is to create an interdisciplinary network for our young scientists already in the early career phase – for diverse exchange, career topics and of course to promote scientific collaborations. Since 2021, the respective YI working group representatives have been active in transferring the YI goals and interests to the individual working groups of the DGfI.

YI representative for the study group Signal Transduction

For the period 2021-23, Alpaslan Tasdogan from the Department of Dermatology (Tumour Metabolism Unit, University Hospital Essen) will represent the young immunologists and coordinate the YI’s initial activities in the Signal Transduction Study Group.

Goals for the YI within the AK Signal Transduction

Together with the elected speakers of the AK Signal Transduction Ingo Schmitz and Dirk Brenner, the following goals were formulated:

  • To initiate and promote networking among young scientists within the Signal Transduction Working Group
  • Establish a session for YI members in the annual working group meetings
  • Establish the focus on “Immunometabolimus
  • Establish cross-linking to other DGfI working groups

Already at the 24th STS meeting in November 2021 in Weimar, submissions from YI members will be incorporated into the scientific programme.
