Long covid, also called post-COVID syndrome, is a possible long-term sequela of covid-19. The symptoms vary widely and range from severe lung damage, inflammatory reactions and changes in various organs to shortness of breath, fatigue and neurological disorders. Post-COVID fatigue in particular can apparently also occur after mild courses. However, a uniform definition for long-term sequelae is not yet available.
The German Society for Pneumology and Respiratory Medicine e. V. (DGP) will publish an S1 guideline on this topic, probably on 1 June 2021. It is intended to provide treatment providers with diagnostic and therapeutic guidance (press release).
